//Unibox host Grammar School visit
In early November 2009 Nick Wraith welcomed 18 Year 12 students from a local grammar school to the Unibox premises. Nick gave a guided tour of Unibox enabling the students to make comparisons between their school production process and that of a professional manufacturer.
The tour began with Tim Dixon, Senior Designer, demonstrating live 3D CAD modelling, the data produced was then sent to the CNC machine in the factory Unit. The students then were able to follow the process and see the finished cutting and view the final product for despatch.
Prior to their visit the students had been designing and creating a home ornament such as a candle holder using only acrylic sheet and CAD and CAM.
The finished articles were brought along to the visit for judging. Nick was asked by the accompanying teacher to make the very difficult decision of choosing which he considered to be the best design. All of the project pieces were imaginative, well designed and to a very high standard, but Nick did choose an overall winner and was pleased to present the prize.
