//Not so heavy metal

Ana-Maria Stewart has designed a jewellery line in collaboration with Unibox, recycling off-cuts from its range of aluminium extrusions.

The project allowed Ana-Maria to look at the engineering properties of the extrusions and manipulate them to demonstrate their tactility and diversity, to create an almost organic representation of their forms. The results were then anodised in a range of metallic finishes to further enhance the unique properties of the material.

Nick Wraith, Managing Director of United Aluminium who design and produce the Unibox Modular System, is delighted with the results Ana-Maria has produced. "We are always looking for ways to work with designers who push the possibilities of our products in ways that challenge the conventional perception of their usual and intended use. Ana-Maria has achieved this beautifully."

These collaborative pieces were on view at Tom Dixon Shop at Portobello Dock. The converted Wharf Building, Ladbroke Grove, showcases extraordinary items for everyday use and launched on September 20th, in time for Global Industry at The Dock during London Design Week.
